IN A SILENT WAY – NYEPI DAY
Nyepi is the Balinese New Year, the day of silence and reflection when the world is cleansed and everything starts anew. Nyepi falls on the day following the dark moon of the spring equinox, and opens a new year of the Saka Hindu era which began in 78 A.D. This is the year 1932 of the Saka Calendar. The ancient religious beliefs surrounding Nyepi, of Amati Lelanguan (no pleasure), Amati Lelungaan (no traffic), Amati Geni (no fire) and Amati Karya (no work) begins from 6.00 am on 16th March to 6.00 am on 17th March, 2010.
In honor of Nyepi, all guests are required not to leave the hotel grounds. Swimming is restricted to certain areas and lights in the hotel will be minimized. Noise must be kept to a minimum and blinds must be kept closed after 6.00 pm on 16th March. D’Munk Band will perform on Nyepi night in “Boom Box”, level 1. Guests may also enjoy the activities at the main pool, or a relaxing Spa Treatment. All staff & management of Hard Rock Hotel Bali wish you a peaceful Nyepi, 1932 Saka Calendar. |
